Hello everyone, my name is Gavin, I’m a 16 year old graphic designer who’s been using Gravit for almost two years now. Graphic design has been a passion of mine for many years. Since I cannot afford to pay for a subscription for Photoshop, Gravit has always been my go-to design software. I loved the amount of features provided for a free software, however I believe I speak for the majority of the Gravit community when I say I am absolutely disappointed.
I am always trying to improve my design skills by creating my own projects and learning new techniques. Gravit allowed me to do that without paying for a subscription I could not afford. With that said, I feel betrayed. I don’t have an issue with there being a pro version, I have an issue with your approach. A pro version should provide more features, not take them away. In doing so, it shows your greed, and it proves you do not stand by your mission. That mission was to provide an exceptional free design software everyone can use. Explain to me why exporting a file is a pro feature?! What am I designing for?! I can’t save my projects, I can’t share them, what’s the use?! Not only this, but to take away the ability to import fonts is ridiculous. For the majority of my projects, I have imported custom fonts to enhance my designs, as have the majority of others in the Gravit community. I know there are other features that have been taken away and put into the pro version, but these are the two I was very upset about.
Overall, you have betrayed us. I know there are more teens like me who aspire to be a graphic designer for their career, and now I have nothing to use. Nothing. Gravit was the only program that offered the features I needed to continue to pursue my passion, but your desire for money and greed has taken it away. I hope this message gives you guys a change of heart and makes you rethink your decision to restrict the features we know and love. As I said before, on behalf of the Gravit community, we are all disappointed.
