I think we would all love to hear you address the core complaint here: that the pro version doesn’t just offer new features, it rips core features out of the free version making it nearly unusable for a lot of people.
We all understand that there is still a free version but just reminding us about that doesn’t feel like an adequate response.
The simple fact that this decision was made undermines any promises about the future of the free version. Instead we have every reason to believe that even more features will be “moved” to the pro version in the future. And on that note what motivation do we have to pay at all? You’ve opened up the very real possibility that even if we pay for pro, you might introduce more tiers in the future and “move” features out of pro into a higher tier.
People are unhappy not because there is a paid version, but because the feature division was made in an anti-community way. Offering a free version doesn’t matter. Offering a discount doesn’t matter. Trust in the company’s future decision making is what matters.
