Opening AI files should be a feature in the free version of Gravit Designer

Hi,

I feel that the ability to open Adobe Illustrator files in Gravit Designer should be available to free users. To be quite frank, it seems ridiculous to me that users need to pay to open these files in Gravit, because how else are new users supposed to try out and perhaps switch to Gravit from Illustrator?

I have the Pro version and I can’t even open my old .ai files

I’m afraid it is not a matter of free vs PRO account types. You can open .ai files but the Illustrator files have to be saved with the option “PDF compatible file” checked.

If this is not the case, you can export an SVG or a PDF from Illustrator and import it back into Gravit Designer, or if you don’t have Illustrator available, you can also use an online tool like https://cloudconvert.com/ai-to-svg.
